Protech Training Hosts a Multi-Trade Graduation, Celebrating Youth Empowerment and Skills Excellence

On 05 December 2025, the campus of Botho Socio-Psychology Empowerment in Soshanguve came alive with celebration as Protech Training hosted an amalgamated graduation ceremony for learners across multiple artisan and vocational programmes. Over 100 graduates were honoured for successfully completing training in Welding, Electrical, Plumbing, Bricklaying, and Basic Handyman skills , a milestone reflecting the powerful collaboration between the Department of Social Development (DSD), Botho Socio-Psychology Empowerment, and Protech Training.
The ceremony brought together learners, families, partners, and community stakeholders. More than just a graduation, the ceremony was evidence of what becomes possible “when the State, community institutions and accredited training partners work together with purpose,” as noted by Protech Training’s CEO, Mr Tsakane Pila, during his keynote address.
Mr Pila emphasized that the programmes, quality-assured under EWSETA and CETA, were designed not just to offer certificates, but to deliver confidence, competence and meaningful economic participation. In a speech that resonated deeply with the audience, Mr Pila spoke about the transformative power of artisan training.
“Skills create dignity. Skills create access. Skills create opportunity.”
He highlighted that this graduation comes shortly after the G20 Summit, where global leaders stressed industrial capacity building, youth employability, entrepreneurship, and social innovation.
“We stand here today aligned with this agenda. These young men and women are no longer spectators . They are participants in the national development effort.”
He went on to commend the graduates for their dedication:
“You did the work. You showed up. You completed. Your communities need you. South Africa needs you.”
Government Commitment: Investing in Youth Skills Development Representing the Department of Social Development, Mr Sello Maswanganye reaffirmed government’s commitment to funding artisan training programmes that empower young people.
Another highlight was the recognition of TB & HIV Care, whose beneficiaries successfully completed the Handyman Training Programme. Speaking on behalf of the organisation, Ms Phumuzile Ngomezulu commended the learners’ commitment and reflected on the life-changing effect of vocational training.
The audience was inspired by a heartfelt message from former learner Maropeng Mabe, who urged them to actively pursue opportunities:
“Don’t sit with your qualification. Use it. Knock on doors. Offer your skills. Create your own openings. Your certificate is a tool. Take it and build your future.”

As each learner walked across the stage, the room filled with pride and excitement. The qualification marks the beginning of new employment, entrepreneurship, or further artisan development.
Protech Training remains committed to delivering accessible, accredited skills training that uplifts communities and supports South Africa’s development. The success of this
graduation confirms the value of strong partnerships and the importance of investing in young people.
Congratulations to all the graduates. May this be the first step of many.
